Our new car: eXXe24

The development and implementation of our new eXXe24 car will begin with the 2023–2024 season. The goal for 2024 was to build a race car within a year—a first in E-Traxx’s history.

Own development

The aim of Formula Student is to apply your own knowledge in practice. This year, we were able to benefit massively from the lessons we learned last season and have fundamentally revised and optimised our old concept in several areas.

120 km/h top speed

With our racing car we reach a top speed of 120 km/h. We achieve stability and a good driving feel at high and low speeds with a lot of dynamics thanks to our 13" magnesium rims from OZ and our push-rod suspension.

Dual motor drive

With two motors, each driving one wheel on the rear axle, we can accelerate to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds. With 55 hp per engine, we can drive safely on the racetrack.

First aero pack

Our biggest goal for our new car was to develop a complete aerodynamic concept. The entire aero package weighs 9.2 kg and consists of front and rear wings, sidepods and a diffuser that we developed ourselves. This enabled us to optimise the airflow to the water flow radiators. In total, our new aero package enables us to create approx. 1000 N downforce at 60 km/h.

Fully electric

Our vehicle is fully electrically powered and is supplied by a self-built battery with 80 kW of power. For the first time, we also had our wiring harness professionally manufactured and thus also set up a standardised connector system. A total of 250 metres of cable was used.

Welding work

Our racing car consists of a tubular frame. This was completely designed and welded by us. Furthermore, all wheel carriers and the chassis were developed in-house. We have also added an adjustable pedal box to these racing cars.

Construction Phase of “Birdy”

There was a lot of welding and sweating involved. Not only did we build a car in such a short time for the very first time, but with our eXXe24, we’re also proud to present our first-ever homemade aero kit. That’s why its nickname is: Birdy.

For the first time, we were able to compete in all the dynamic events there.
