Highs and lows
Endurance
Today we report on our sixth day at the Formula Student event in Italy. After yesterday's success, most of us finally got a good night's sleep today. However, a small part of our pit team had to leave early for the event side to solve an urgent problem that had arisen on the test track after last night's endurance race. The weld seam of the front right Ackermann was broken. Fortunately, another team offered us their support. Together we were able to repair the damage and get our car back on the track. As a precautionary measure, we also replaced the Ackermann on the left front.
Waiting for Birdy's biggest flight
We were finally able to start in the afternoon. We had already watched many teams in their endurance runs and were looking forward to competing ourselves. Our drivers each had to complete 13 laps, touching or driving round as few cones as possible. It was an overwhelming moment when our car actually drove on the track after the start - quickly and without any major problems.
Birdy's rough landing
Unfortunately, it became apparent after the first few laps that ‘Birdy’ had lost momentum. On the eighth lap, our driver suddenly stopped in the middle of the track. From the grandstand, we could not immediately recognise the cause. Even after several minutes, our car was unable to continue and eventually had to be pushed off the track. The cause was a break in the weld seam of the left Ackermann.
Despite this setback, we are proud of what we have achieved so far. Our performance throughout the event has exceeded our expectations and we have proven ourselves at every stage of the event. We are grateful for the valuable experience we have gained over the last few weeks and look forward to the season ahead.
